e-News No.74: Happy New Year https://kawasakirobotics.com/uk/e-news/20220101-01/ Fri, 31 Dec 2021 16:06:00 +0000 urn:uuid:52356b61-de83-4880-8840-4743b79d1bd3 Season’s Greetings

Happy New Year!

Despite the continued corona pandemic, we received many purchase orders last year because of strong demand from the semiconductor industry and Chinese market. Due to the supply chain problem of semiconductor, electronics and plastic parts, we could not always satisfy customers’ requests. Although the situation is expected to continue this year, we will do utmost to cope with the problem. We would ask for your understanding and cooperation.

In December 2021, we established a joint venture company with Sony, “Remote Robotics, Inc.” and started a remote service platform using the Successor technology. Our Robot Business Division will start R&D of the dual-arm type self-travelling robot as a new platform, which combines autonomous technologies and remote operations. Demonstration experiments are already underway.

We will also develop a robot data platform in line with Kawasaki’s DX initiative so that we can change our business model. It will enable to provide SIers and users with continued services, and move forward to new fields of robotics in addition to the existing areas. As we are evolving to a fully integrated robot manufacturer, we would ask for your continued support.

Season’s Greetings

A happy new year!

2020 witnessed the COVID-19 pandemic which seriously affected global robot business, and the world is still facing hardship. However, to prepare for the post-corona time, we are not only developing new technologies, but also strengthening our organization and improving awareness.

Last year, the surgical robot system, hinotori™ was approved by the Japanese government, and a surgical operation was performed successfully in December for the first time in Japan. Also, to contribute to society, we are now launching a company-wide project, PCR testing service for COVID-19.

The Kawasaki’s group vision 2030 that President Hashimoto has announced is based on robot technologies such as Successor, the remote control operation, and TRanbo, self-propelling robot technology. The robot technologies are becoming progressively more important. We are challenging to contribute such expectations and moving forward towards the year 2030. This year, as we are expecting a V-shaped economic recovery, we would appreciate your continued support.

PCR Testing System

Kawasaki is proposing a PCR testing system using robots. A demonstration system is installed at Kawasaki’s Tokyo Robot Center in Daiba. The PCR testing system employs many robots to automate dispensing, cultivation and testing of collected sampling in a short time, preventing workers from infection.

The system is drawing keen attention from government offices and medical organizations as well as airports worldwide. Many officers including ministers visited to see the system and a number of newspapers reported the new technology.

Based on our experience and expertise over half a century in robotics, Kawasaki is returning our state-of-art technologies to society, and trying to contribute to combat the pandemic. We wish that we will overcome COVID-19 and resume safe and secure daily life as soon as possible.

就任のご挨拶

Dear our valued customers and partners,

As of April 1, I have assumed office as General Manager of the Robot Business Division.

The world market for industrial robots had a drawback in 2019 due to the US-China trade friction and the new corona virus. The year 2020 is not clear because we do not know yet when the pandemic comes to an end.

However, I believe that the human wisdom can and will solve this disaster, and good economy will be back sooner or later. It is clear that the aging society needs robots for automation and labor-saving. In order to correspond to such strong needs, I have organized the Global Strategic Department to strengthen the network with overseas subsidiaries and distributors. Resources are also allocated in pursuit of expanding semiconductor and painting robot businesses through product differentiation.

In addition to our values of speed, responsibility and hospitality, I would like to start activities of 4Cs; “Challenge”, “Change”, “Communication” and “Cooperation” to offer excellent products and services of high added values.

I am looking forward to working closely with our customers and partners, and therefore appreciate your continued support.

Kawasaki Robotics Presents ‘Ask the Experts’ Facility at Mach 2020 https://kawasakirobotics.com/uk/news/20200211-01/ Tue, 11 Feb 2020 01:17:00 +0000 urn:uuid:c9da5ea3-60bf-4a22-b5af-ad45028b6259 KAWASAKI ROBOTICS PRESENTS ‘ASK THE EXPERTS’ FACILITY AT MACH 2020

MACH 2020 exhibitor Kawasaki Robotics is pioneering an innovative new opportunity for visitors with a ‘Not sure if you need a robot?’ confidential advice service on its stand for the duration of the event, with visitors able to remain completely anonymous should they so choose.

For the first time, visitors who might be thinking of automating but are uncertain about whether it is necessary, viable, affordable or achievable can meet with a Kawasaki Robotics expert for an independent assessment. To ensure that any advice provided is indeed absolutely independent, show visitors need not provide their name or company name when they meet with the Kawasaki Robotics experts, just their job function. Kawasaki Robotics Ian Hensman, who together with fellow industry stalwart Malcolm Akers will be providing the service throughout every day of MACH 2020 says “What matters here is independence and anonymity. If visitors seeking advice wish to remain anonymous, they need only remove their badge before joining us and discussing their ideas. This is not about us selling robots: it is about providing experienced insight into the advantages and possible pitfalls in potential applications, and offering overarching guidance and advice in such a way that potential users can better validate their ideas before investing too much time, money and resource into taking things further”.

Kawasaki Robotics arrives at MACH 2020 (Stand H6-472) fresh from a stunning win at the Plastics Industry Awards 2019, when it picked up ‘Supplier Partnership – Ancillary Machinery Award’ for its work with Malvern-based precision moulders SynthoTec Ltd. SynthoTec Operations Director Wayne Williamson, commenting on the many reasons why the company chose a Kawasaki robot, observed at the time “We are extremely pleased that we chose Kawasaki Robotics for another reason, too – we have been dealing with engineers who listen, understand what we’re saying and what we want to achieve, and are always available to us on demand when we have queries or questions.”
